Children in one or more of the following categories will become Title I Reading students:

Primary:
K-1:  a)  students scoring 33% or lower on the Measures of Academic Progress Test (MAP)
         b)  students ranked in the lowest quartile of the class on the Observation Survey
         c)  students recommended by the classroom teacher

2:  a)  students scoring 33% or lower on the Measures of Academic Progress Test (MAP)
     b)  students reading on level 14 or below on the Diagnostic Reading Assessment (DAR)
     c)  students recommended by the classroom teacher

Intermediate:
3-5:  a)  students scoring 33% or lower on the Measures of Academic Progress Test (MAP)
         b)  students flagged with Academic Warning (AW) and/or Approaching Standard (AS) on the Kansas State Reading Assessment
         c)  students recommended by the classroom teacher


Students showing marked improvement may leave the Title I program if the classroom teacher and the Title I teacher agree the services are no longer needed.

The goal of the Title I program is to help students meet state standards.  The Title I teacher works in unision with the classroom teacher to plan lessons using various methods and materials at the appropriate level of instructioon for student success.  Students receive individual attention, encouragement, and are recognized for their accomplishments.
